DIY ‘Aveda Shampure’ Essential Oil blend!

September 14, 2017

I recently went to an Aveda salon and was intoxicated by the amazing scent of the spa! I was told it was their signature Shampure scent which you can purchase in the form of shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, candles…you name it. Immediately I thought gosh I need to find out how to create this scent with essential oils!

There were a few reasons I wanted to create the scent with essential oils. Firstly, despite Aveda being plant based, they’re not exclusively plant ingredients; they use chemical perfumes. Now the use of perfumes is not an issue 100% of the time, but for those with sensitive skin like myself and for those who don’t want to use synthetic chemicals in their homes, this can be a problem. Secondly, I exclusively scent my home with doTERRA essential oils, and since I fell in love with this scent, I wanted to be able to diffuse it in my home via essential oils.

I immediately went to Pinterest to find blends to recreate this scent because while Aveda lists some of their ingredients for the Shampure line, they don’t name all 25 essential oils used to create this scent. Sadly, every blend I tried was off in some way.

Through lots of trials I believe I have nailed the scent! Not only I have created a Shampure smelling blend of essential oils (which is amazing) but because I use certified pure therapeutic grade essential oils there is more than just the pleasant scent in my home; there are therapeutic benefits for my family while I’m diffusing!

In a diffuser, use equal parts of each oil (I use 3 drops of each in my 600ml diffuser)

YAS! Have you tried frankincense internally for headaches? I find a drop in my tea makes a big difference!

I’m trying your blend right now and it truly smells amazing. I love to blend bergamot, lavender, lemon, grapefruit and lemongrass.
