Flower, Beauty, Lip-Suede, Velvet, Chubby-StickFlower beauty (Drew Barrymore‘s cruelty free makeup line) just launched in Canada this month and to celebrate I’ll be doing a product review of several items from the line (all in the name of science of course…has nothing to do with the fact that I love trying out new makeup…)

The makeup line is available exclusively at Walmart in Canada which allows it to  have a very budget-friendly price point (yay!)

Today’s review will be of the Lip Suede Velvet Lip Chubby stick.

The colour selection is quite extensive considering the fact that this is a new product line. Ranging from deep tones, to bright vivid colour, feminine corals to nudes, the line is sure to have at least one colour that appeals to even the most selective of tastes. The tones and finish of the shades are very contemporary and on-point with colours showcased during last month’s New York and London Fashion week from industry leaders such as Burberry.

I chose to try the colour “Life’s a Peach” from the line because it was at the top of the lippy display and because I’m a sucker for coral shades (I know…I’m really scientific right?!)

The chubby pencil design makes it very easy to apply (which is particularly handy when applying bold colours).

Flower, Beauty, Lip-Suede, Velvet, Chubby-StickOnce opened, the packaging of the lipstick itself is sleek and minimalistic in nature which I love! When compared to Clinique’s Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm (another lipstick I love) the Flower packaging boasts a much more simplistic and therefore modern design.

Let’s discuss colour payoff. What I enjoyed about this colour is that it’s a build-able payoff that will give you a light emphasis or a full-coverage tint depending on your preference. The matte finish is not drying to the lips (something that is a common problem with many matte lipsticks) making it a great choice for this fall and winter from a fashion and function standpoint.

It is not marketed as a long-wearing lipstick, however I found it to be very durable. It withstood a cup of tea, drinking 20 oz of water from a straw as well as numerous kisses to Forde’s cheeks and head and the colour still looked fresh, vibrant and matte.

After a full day of wear, the colour began to sit on top of my lips rather than blend in with them. This gave my lips a more chapped appearance, but let’s be honest here: this is after a lot of wear and no re-applying so I was extremely impressed with the quality of this lippy!Flower, Beauty, Lip-Suede, Velvet, Chubby-Stick

Final Thoughts: I really loved both the look and quality of this lippy and I will definitely be purchasing more shades from the line. I highly recommend you do the same!

If you try any of the chubby pencils from this line make sure to tag me in a photo on Twitter or Instagram…I’d love to see how they look on you!
